Analysis of completed problem page 2
Things I need to work on
For my actual coursework there are a number of things I need to work
on, the quality of picture being one of them. Next time I will more carefully
plan out my camera angles and background and edit them better. I also feel I
need to think of space more and where I place the text and images. I think I
also need to use better software; for this preliminary project I used Microsoft word as I was not confident
with using InDesign and didn't want to waste time trying to learn how to use it as there was a tight deadline I had to stick to, however I need to gain experience with InDesign ready for
next time and will do this before I start my coursework as InDesign software is much better for designing magazine covers as it allows you to be more creative.

Conventions
and style features
- · Each problem page has a Q and A form, however each are set out in a different layout, two each have a classic Q and A featured and one has a similar layout though using the saying ‘Suzie Says’ instead.
- · Each page features at least two images that relate to the page and the problems being addressed to engage the reader and be eye-catching – the reader knows immediately what kind of problem page it is
- · Most problem pages feature a title that will be colourful and large font in order to be eye-catching and informative – it immediately tells the reader what the page is about
- · Subheadings are often featured; these are usually a larger font than the rest of the text below but not quite as big as the title. They usually inform the reader what the problem being addressed is.
- · A picture of the person who is answering the questions is often shown somewhere on the page to create familiarity.
Target Audience
Age range and gender: The problem page will be targeted at female sixth
form students aged between sixteen and eighteen. Because of this the problem page will address
problems sixth form students have and so will deal with relationships and
school stress. Female students is an easier and more suitable target audience for
me to choose from as I can relate to them better and have more knowledge about
what sort of things they have to deal with on a daily basis and so I can use
this to my advantage when creating a sixth form problem page whereas if the
target audience were male students it would be a lot more difficult.
Personalities and interests: the type of people this page will
be directed at will be girls who like to gossip and often read this type of
magazine to find out as much as they can and to read about the type of things
other people like them are dealing with so they can relate to and maybe even
find some advice for themselves if they are having any kind of similar
problems. They will be interested in reading magazines and gossiping with their
friends and so will attract people who enjoy reading.
